Biography

 Deandra Smith was born and raised on the westside of Detroit, MI. She attended Spelman College where she graduated in 2012 with a BS in Environmental Science. Once she graduated, she went on to serve with AmeriCorps as a Leader for the Youth Energy Squad located in Detroit. After her term ended, she went to work for an Environmental Consulting firm where she was the acting Environmental Scientist on site for General Motors for 5 years. After her contract ended with that company, she went on to teach Kindergarten in an Elementary school for a year before starting her position at Wayne State as the AmeriCorps Project Coordinator. She loves the environment and volunteering in her off time in the Detroit community, and truly loves working with youth in any way.
