Biography

 Valeria R. Cook brings 24 years of expertise in Management as Business Manager of Operations for the Center for Urban Studies.

She brings vitality, professionalism, a mindset of service and advocacy to her work which involves the day-to-day operations within the Center of Urban Studies which includes budget forecasting, financial accounting of restricted and unrestricted funds, Grants and Contracts negotiation with a history of ensuring financial integrity, project management as well as human resources management.

Prior joining the Center for Urban Studies, Valeria has held several positions in project management and management of day-to-day activities such as directing the organizations’ contracts and procurements program, strategic planning activities within a Research Service Center, as well as faculty promotion and tenure within multiple departments.

Valeria graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy where she earned a Master of Science in Computer and Information Systems – Software Management, as well as a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, after completing her undergraduate degree in Business and Health Administration.
