John Bulat, MPA
John Bulat began working at the Center on a part-time basis in July 2010 while pursuing a Masters of Public Administration degree at Wayne State University. He became a full-time research assistant in October 2011 and has been involved in research related to lead-poisoning prevention and asthma awareness in the North End Detroit neighborhood as well as home health related issues throughout Detroit.
In addition to this, John has been and is currently active with the Center’s Urban Safety Program, performing spatial, quantitative, and qualitative analysis of crime data for both the Wayne State University Police Department and the Detroit Police Department.
John also provides technical assistance to the Governor’s/Detroit Mayor’s AmeriCorps Urban Safety Progam (AMUS) Initiative and produces maps for various programs at the Center.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in English from Wayne State University, John worked as a musician for a number of years before returning to Wayne State to pursue a graduate degree in Public Administration in 2008. He received his MPA in 2011 and currently resides in Midtown Detroit.
